The Phoenician
Modern Naturalism
Mixed-use commercial space simplifying elements of nature: land, light, and water
THE
CLIENT
The surrounding demographics of 170 Charles street include predominantly middle-aged and wealthy clientele. They are looking to reside in a community that has a vibrant history while also being connected to the city’s many resources. The focus of this design is to stand as a functioning art piece that would attract a wide variety of people, therefore expanding the clientele pool.
THE CONCEPT
The goal of the design is to create a serene retreat from the city. This will be done by simplifying the key elements of nature: land, light, and water. A topographical ceiling and walls constructed with lime plaster will represent land. In addition, stained glass will envelop the spaces in colored light. Finally flowing paths created by curved walls will represent water. Overall, the space is designed to clear one's mind and comfort.
